FAIRCHILD PT-26 CORNELL
David McBride  

Dave started flying in 1970 and has over 16,000 flight hours. His first career was flying for the U.S. Navy flying A-7s, EP-3s, T-34B and C, T-28, T-2 and TA-4s. After retiring he flew corporate Lear aircraft and then moved on to the airlines where he has flown the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320. Dave is also a certified flight instructor and owns a Luscombe 8E, his favorite aircraft to fly.

Mike Rice  

Mike's first solo was a T-41 in Del Rio, Texas, (Laughlin AFB), and flew over 4600 hours in the RF-101C, A-7D, F-16-C, and C-26B during his 36 year career with the  U. S. Air Force and the New Mexico Air National Guard.   He is a single engine and multi-engine instrument rated commercial pilot, with private privileges for glider and lighter than air balloon.  He has owned two Mooney’s, a Piper Comanche 250, a Schweitzer Glider, a Cessna 182, and a Bonanza 36.  His 3700 hours of civilian flying has included over 30 different types of single engine, Multi-engine aircraft, gliders and balloons.

NORTH AMERICAN AT-6 TEXAN
Julie Smith   T-6 pilot Julie Smith , a pilot since 1973, has amassed nearly 4500 hours in the air, including 1500 hours in the T-6.  She holds Single Engine Land Commercial and Instrument Ratings, but her favorite  flying venues have been in the areas of acrobatic and formation flight. She flew a Pitts Special in aerobatic competition, winning a spot on the US National Team three times.  In 1986, her highest placing finish, she was number two in the women’s division at the World Championships  in Cirencester, England. Since acquiring a T-6 in 1994, she has flown in formation flights at airshows around the USA, and flew with a four ship flight to the British Virgin Islands.
     
     

READ ABOUT THE COMMEMORATIVE AIR FORCE MISSION

The Lobo Wing is the Albuquerque New Mexico based attachment of the Midland Texas Based Commemorative Air Force (CAF).   The Wing flies and supports a 1942 Fairchild PT-26 Cornell and is restoring a 1941 Beech AT-11 Kansan to flying condition. We have a number of other interesting projects that you may view on the "Our Projects" page. Please roam around the site and learn more about the Lobo Wing. CAF Aims and Purposes

  1. To acquire, restore, and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.
  2. To provide museum buildings for permanent protection, maintenance, and display of these historic aircraft, period artifacts, and documents as a tribute to the thousands of men and women who built, serviced and flew them and to build and organize the "Combat Airman Hall of Fame."
  3. To perpetuate the spirit in which such combat aircraft were flown in the defense of our nation, in the memory and hearts of all Americans.
  4. To establish an organization having the dedication, enthusiasm and Esprit de Corps necessary to operate, maintain and preserve these aircraft as symbols of our American Military Aviation Heritage.
  5. To receive gifts, and grants of money and property of every kind and to administer the same for the purposes here stated, and to do anything necessary or proper for the accomplishment of these purposes; to lease, purchase, hold, have, use, and take possession of and enjoy fee simple or otherwise any personal and real property necessary for the uses and purposes of the corporations; and to sell, lease, alienate, or dispose of the same at the pleasure of the corporation and for the uses and purposes for which said corporation is formed; and to buy and sell real or personal property and to apply the proceeds of the sale, including any and all income, to the uses and purposes of the corporation.
