Ramp Scooter

Ramp Scooter Project

This ramp scooter is unique in that it was fabricated by Army Air Force maintenance personnel at Hobbs probably some time in the 1950’s from various left over aircraft parts and basic maintenance materials. They used a unique blend of fabricated parts and aircraft parts to build a useful unit. The wheels are from an F-84C, the steering wheel is from a B-17 and the engine is an aircraft Auxiliary Power Unit. We are still researching what aircraft the APU came from. It is our intention to restore this unit to running condition but we will have to manufacture a gear box as it went missing over the years.
